About the anagram solver

An anagram rearranges every letter of a word to make another word. LISTEN and SILENT are anagrams; so are STRESSED and DESSERTS. Every letter must be used, exactly as many times as it appears.

This solver works by letter signature: it sorts the letters of your input alphabetically and looks for the other words that sort to the same thing. That is why it is instant, and why it never misses one.

Examples

listen
SILENT, ENLIST, TINSEL, INLETS

Common questions

What counts as an anagram?

A word using exactly the same letters, each the same number of times. Adding, dropping or repeating a letter makes it something else.

Why does my word show no results?

Most English words have no anagram at all. A blank result is usually the correct answer, not a failure.

Does it find multi-word anagrams?

Not yet — it finds single dictionary words. Phrase anagrams are a different and much larger search.
